Okay, I realize some of you might not feel the love on this one, but I wanted to shake things up with it being Valentine’s Day and all. Can you feel it coming?
Yes, I am postponing this week’s Onesong chapter until next week so that I can bring you what I believe is the start of a new short story series featuring everyone’s favorite god of love: Cupid. But he is neither cute nor a cherub, though I would say his archery skills are supreme. He helps people find their true love in this difficult day and age. Read the rest of this entry »

Every single time I think I’m nearing the end of this novel, I realize that there is more that I need to do. It’s getting long and once again I am contemplating breaking it into shorter novels. I’ve been toying with the idea of Onesong: Days of Abilities (or Power, or Awakening) and Onesong: Nights of Magic as parts 1 and 2. I don’t know yet though. The second one sounds very romance-y, which I don’t want. Or I might just let it ride as one story. Really haven’t decided.
I have time though, for now. I’m still fleshing out the timeline of the story. Read the rest of this entry »

Coming out of my creative procrastination on this story, I am seeing more and more things that I need to put into the story. It is currently over 111,000 words long. To Birth a Destiny (#3 of the Sacred Knight series and so far the longest in the series) is over 96,000 words long. 75,000-100,000 feels like a good length to me for fantasy novels. So, if I get this up to around 150,000 words (which it might very well do), I’m going to split it into two novels.
Of course, you’ll get as much of it here as I possibly can do. There will have to be some cycling back in the earlier sections, so the books will be slightly different than what you’ve read here. Read the rest of this entry »

I admit that I’ve still had some “creative procrastination” going on with this story. Other projects have bumped it aside. But, I sat down earlier this week to try to work on Onesong and I have yet to figure out the puzzle. I know it’s there. I trust the process, so I know the answer is in something I’ve already written. I’m trying to stay calm since I know I still have a lot of this book to piece together. I just haven’t figured out what scenes still need written and that’s a problem. I’m not even seeing the scenes any more but I have wholes that need filled. Read the rest of this entry »

This is going to be a short chapter this week. Very short. I’m still piecing Onesong together and haven’t really been working on it the last couple of weeks. My brain has been possessed by my other idea as well as those edits for Prince of the Ruined Land. Yeah, I do want to get that out soon! I’m sure everyone would love to quit hearing me talk about it so they can be reading it.
There might also be some creative procrastination going on with Onesong. Every now and then I have to put a story aside so that I can figure it out. You wanted to come along on this adventure with me, so here you are, rowing in the same boat I am. (grin)
But first, a special announcement. Click the image to learn more. (Don’t worry, another tab will open so you won’t forget to come back and read Onesong.)
Let’s get to this chapter, shall we?

I feel like I’ve been talking too much already this week. I do have to admit that I feel a little better after my online “journal-ing” on Monday. I still won’t say that I completely understand what’s going on in my head (I think that’s impossible), but maybe I am one step closer.
Since I’ve already been blathering on this week, let’s get to the story.

Every year right after Thanksgiving, my life gets sucked into a black hole and doesn’t seem to re-emerge until around late March. So far, 2017-2018 has been no exception. I hope it gets better. If you saw my pictures from yesterday and have read my blog posts for the last few weeks, you know that I’ve been heading down to Nevada to help my brother clean up my dad’s place.
My brother has taken the brunt of the work and he did a brilliant job. He so deserves kudos and a round of applause for all he did.
I am so far off-track right now that it’s going to take me awhile to get back into my old habits. I only hope they are ingrained enough and I’ve tried to keep some semblance of them that I’ll slide back in easily. We’ll see. I have a lot to catch up on, and that’s putting me further behind. I’m determined to not fall completely into the usual black hole, but that means I’ve got to work very hard. Sleep, who said anything about sleep? Kidding — these days I need it more than I’d like to admit. So much so that one day last week I literally couldn’t wake up until noon, and even then I’m not sure I should have been.
